Virtual Fan during Elmot-Krause Rally

On the 23-25 of April the 38th Elmot-Krause Rally will take place. This rally is the first elimination of the Polish Rally Championship. The Rally fans will be able to follow the event in the Internet through the „Wirtualny Kibic" application. It will be possible thanks to the GPS appliances provided by AutoGuard S.A. and the „Wirtualny Kibic" internet service created together with Go-Rally.

The Elmot-Krause Rally has been organized since 1972, this year competition will begin in Modliszów and will end in Ludwikowice in the Silesia Region. This rally with its special stages planned in the mountain countryside is one of the most unforeseeable car rallies in Poland. The rally route is technically difficult, diversified, often narrow and slippery. It requires from contestants exquiste skills. The changing weather may be an additional suprise and it may affect the course of the rally. 60 teams will participate in the rally, most of them are Polish competitors.

Bearing in mind the motor sports fans who will not be able to participate personally in the event, AutoGuard in cooperation with Go-Rally the editor of the Autoklub.pl portal have initiated the project named Virtual Fan. AutoGuard the producer of monitoring and vehicles management systems have provided rally maps and GPS appliances. Go-Rally has prepared the data presentation system. The application allows for following on a monitor screen the position of all cars that take part in the rally. Each rally car will be equipped with a monitoring appliance with a GPRS modem. The GPS system localises a vehicle and transmits data through the GSM network to the AutoGuard Monitoring Centre. The data are then processed and immediately projected on the website. Thanks to the integration of the Virtual Fan application and the on-line results system realised by Go-Rally, immediately after reaching the Finish a crew special stage result will be projected next to a car's icon.

 

The system is attractive not also for fans but it also improves the safety of the rally participants. The event organizers thanks to the constant monitoring of the rally will be able to immediately localise a vehicle and come to assistance. The application will also help the jurors who will be able to define all cases of leaving the marked route by a participant.
