Rzeszowski Rally becomes safer thanks to the AutoGuard solutions
3 August 2010

The ASTO system (AutoGuard Safety Tracking Operation) of AutoGuard will take care of the crews safety during the 19. edition of the Rzeszowski Rally which will take place on the 5th -7th August 2010. The event has special importance as it is the 5. round of the Polish Motor Rally Championship, 5. round of Slovakian Motor Rally Championship and the 6. round of Poland Rally Cup and additionally the 6. round of Central Europe FIA Trophy.

This year the rally route has been determined in main part by the floods that in May occured in the Podkarpacie region and forced the organizers to introduce the changes. On Friday the crews will drive three times the 18 kilometres Lubenia special stage (due to the broken bridge on the Lubenka river the organizers had to renounce the traditional river ford crossing that has been so far the cult route point) and they will drive twice the 14,5 kilometre Handzlówka special stage (broken bridge and a hole in the road shortened this section by more than 5 kilometres). The day will be completed by the media stage in Rzeszów. The special stage in a city will be extremly attractive. The competitors will drive three times the 1,2 kilometres loop located in the city centre and on the route several crews will be driving at the same time.

On Saturday the competitors from the Rally Cup of Poland will join the starters. In the twice completed loop there will be three special stages: Dynów, Konieczkowa and Połmia. The rally route amouts to 160 kilometres of special stages and 400 kilometres of access routes.

The organizers expect that more than hundred crews will register on the starting list which will make the Rzeszów Rally the most popular round of Polish Motor Rally Championship. To improve the safety of the rally participants AutoGuard will provide the ASTO system (AutoGuard Safety Tracking Operation). It allows for controlling the passage of vehicles taking part in the rally. Implementation of this system considerably improves the safety level and in case of an accident it shortens the reaction time of emergency services. The GPS unit assembly time in each vehicle amounts to 3-5 minutes. The installation can be executed during the scrutineering and it does not interfere in any way with the preparation of a competitor or a car for a start.

„The modern technology allows for achieving not only better results by the drivers and also for improving the safety level of the sports contests. The ASTO system, developed by AutoGuard, belongs to the most advanced solutions. I am glad that our system takes care of the safety of the drivers and fans during the next round of the Polish Motor Rally Championship. The experience gained in so extreme conditions will help us to improve our solutions and technologies." - says Mr Wojciech Filipiak of AutoGuard.
