Inteligent navigation soon in Poland

AutoGuard S.A., leading provider of telematic solutions, have begun works on the iNord system: inteligent information about road traffic. The Company received PLN 787,9 thousand to finance this Project from PARP (Polish Agency for Enterprise Development) within European Union funds in the programme: „Support of the B+R investments in companies". The total cost of the investment will amount to PLN 1,8 million. The works on the iNord project should be completed in June 2011.
The chief task of the iNord project will be providing information about current and forecast road traffic congestion and intelligent planning of route setting. The system will be dynamically suggesting alternative solutions with distance to the target and approximate time of passage, taking into consideration current situation on roads and driving direction of a vehicle. In effect the system will enable the elimination of delays resulting from an unforeseen situation on a route.
„In many countries, also in Poland there is more and more demand for information about road traffic. Such data may contribute to diminishing the costs of passages in respect of time as well as money. The safety is also an important issue, understood as reducing the number of road collisions and accidents. That is why we see the demand on the market for the solutions supporting the optimisation of the vehicles movements. We would like to create the system informing about the road traffic conditions which will be reliable, representative and nation-wide." - said Mr Robert Rozesłaniec, President of the AutoGuard S.A. The innovative character of the iNord system is based on the various data sources which will be taken into consideration by completing the information in order to precisely select a route. The information will be derived from companies monitoring the movements of vehicles, location and navigation applications, municipal information systems, cameras placed on the crossroads, information about traffic jams obtained from radio stations and internet portals, information from weather portals, cultural events database. The iNord will be offered for commercial companies, dealing in navigation systems based on maps of any provider, government and self-government institutions, emergency services. Information generated by iNord will also be useful for GPS operators and Internet portals. The system will introduce convenient changes in travelling on the Polish roads for individual drivers and transportation companies.
The iNord will allow for better forecast of time needed for passage of a planned route. It will take into consideration communicates about road works and accidents, communicates of road administrators, the Police, current database of cultural events and other incidents that can affect passage from a point A to a point B, for example the weather conditions. In effect the system will contribute to the time and cost savings and the improvement of safety on the Polish roads. AutoGuard plans to complete the research and development works of the system in June 2011.
