„Virtual Fan” again with the Orlen Rally

The Orlen Rally fans, likewise in the past years, will be able to observe through the www.wirtualnykibic.pl internet page the course of competition in this year edition of the Rally. It will be possible again thanks to the GPS appliances of AutoGuard and the internet portal of „Wirtualny Kibic" created together with Go-Rally.

On Saturday the 19th of September 2009 the sixth round of Polish Rally Championships will take place. Bearing in mind the fans who cannot participate in this event, AutoGuard in cooperation with Go-Rally, editor of Autoklub.pl internet portal, have initiated the project named Virtual Fan. The producer of monitoring and car management systems AutoGuard has provided maps and the GPS appliances, Go-Rally has prepared data presentation system. The application enables the fans to observe on the screen the position of all cars taking part in the rally. Each car will be equipped with a monitoring device together with a GPRS modem. The GPS system localises a vehicle and transmitts data through the GSM network to the AutoGuard Monitoring Centre. The data are then processed and shown on the screen in the internet portal. Thanks to the integration of the „Wirtualny Kibic" application with AutoGuard system, immediately after a competitor has reached the end of the rally the results of special stage will be shown on-line next to a car icon on the screen.

The implementation of this system improves also the safety of the rally participants. The organizers of the event thanks to the constant monitoring of the rally will be able to immediately localise the vehicle and come to assistance. The application will also help the jurors who will be able to define all cases of leaving the designated route by a participant.

The Rally has been organized for many years, earlier known as the Warsaw Rally, since 2007 has been named the Orlen Rally. The change of the name went together with the change of the rally venue, which is now the city of Płock and its surroundings. This year edition is elimination of European Rally Cup FIA of Cenral Zone and the sixth round of Polish Rally Championship.
